...how much fun blackpowder shooting was. Pulled my trusty old Navy .44 out and slung a few round balls with it this afternoon. Any blackpowder buffs out there?

I've got a quick question that I hope is not too far off base. I'm not a hunter, although I may try to go during black powder season with my brother to see if I like it. One of my students told me that they have made it legal to carry handguns during black powder season as a form of self-protection. Apparently people were hunting bear and the first shot was not doing the trick and hunters were getting chased. Has anyone else heard this?

If you have a VA concealed handgun permit, it is legal to carry a concealed handgun during any hunting season. Otherwise it isn't legal to carry during either archery or muzzleloading season.

If you go out with a handgun (without a concealed weapons permit) during one of these seasons and get stopped... you're gonna wish you never did it.

I have allways carried a handgun with me no matter what season bow, muzzleloader and rifle. I even carry one on my boat with me, and I do have a concealed carry permit.
